Has your ISP recovered from the Taiwan earthquake? (or MyDestiny Sucks???)

I had the opportunity to catch up via email with a long-time friend. In the process of our update, the question "how is your Internet access?" came out.

As I shared before, I was hardly affected by the Taiwan earthquake and even playing games comfortably right now. However, there are still some ISPs, like mydestiny, whose Internet service seems not to have recovered to date. Its bandwidth dilemma continues.

On a positive note, it is interesting to see how this company continues to thrive despite competition from traditional carriers. I noticed also that very rare would you find ISPs providing a public forum for users to post their concerns. Most would like to keep this type of complaints hidden from the public eye.

Thank you, Janette, for giving me this opportunity to voice my concern with regards to this company known as myDestiny (Solid Broadband Corp.). Problems started during the Taiwan Earthquake last year, and that being an "act of God", we subs had no choice but to wait until the smoke clears.

Well, majority of the ISPs here have already gone back to their normal operations, in terms of speed of broadband and service quality. However, myDestiny's service went from bad to worse. One visit to their forum will show our readers exactly what I mean.

Not everyone knows about the existence of the forum, so I dread to even think about how many more are out there suffering in silence.

I believe my dial-up connection is a lot faster than what myDestiny's providing me right now, in terms of bandwidth, and it gets pretty bad during daytime. You should consider yourself lucky if you can hit 120kbps at all - The high latency will only make you laugh (reports on latency hitting over 3000ms.) and that's only to/from a LOCAL server.

Now, there's finger-pointing on both Destiny and Globe - and we, the subscribers, are now caught in the crossfire. We don't know who's to blame.

We thought at first that it's great they opened up a forum to discuss problems with the said "broadband" provider.. until the ill-fated day where the supposed "hero" of subscribers who'd do something to relieve our connection problems went deaf (or blind or illiterate in this case) and turned on the mute mode... what is surprising is that eventhough there is a growing number of angry subscribers from mydestiny, they don't have any official announcement... I doubt if all of these complaints are isolated cases because we seem to have the same problems occurring and reoccurring... Is there something or are there some other issues that they are hiding from their subscribers?... We've been thinking or planning ways to get them to speak... I hope someday they will... even if I'd be surfing with another ISP, I would love to hear what excuses they have concocted...

I'm also a subscriber of Destiny Cable Internet and their service is awful, It's difficult to download a decent file especially large files like downloading a 100mb file and the transfer rate is 8kbps and the rate of transfer keeps on decreasing to 0.5kbps.

There are times that my connection gets cut off, one time I can't even access yahoo to check on my email.

Problem seems to be getting worse by the day. I'm not sure if this is part of their "maintenance"... heck I don't even know if there's such a word in their vocabulary.

Bottom line, this service sucks, and I can't wait until my lock-in period expires, so I can get as far away from them as possible.

Looking back at the other discussion threads and blogs, it seems that after all these years, Destiny never really bothered fixing their problem at all.. panay lang false advertisements and promos to lure in more people.

For the past few days I can't update my Ad-Aware SE anti-spyware, because Destiny is blocking the site, same thing happened before when I was trying to update my other software Spyware Blaster, few weeks ago I can't access my email at yahoo.

I tried calling their customer service but not a single soul is answering, not even the people who manages the board at their forum is giving us answers.

Few days ago I received my statement of account from mydestiny, ok I already paid my bill for last month, but now they're charging me P233.00 that's the balance from my rebate for the previous month I asked for a rebate because internet connection that they're giving me is so damn slow I can't download a decent file, I experience disconnection while surfing the net.

Now people from the billing department of mydestiny is telling me that they're going to disconnect me for non-payment of said balance of P233.00 now this is crazy. If this ever happens I going straight to their head asap and make a formal complaint.

This problem with My Destiny cable internet service is I'm paying P999.00 almost a thousand pesos a month and all I get is this crappy service. I can't download a decent file and it would take me an hour to finish one file, in afternoon I can't access google or gmail like their blocking it to make space for their lousy so called bandwith as I have said before a month ago I can't access my email in yahoo, I can't update my AD-Aware software and my Spyware blaster and for almost a thousand pesos a month this is all I get.

For P999.00 a month at my destiny internet cable all you have is problems, problems, problems, and they have an ad in their cable TV.

Another thing they said in their banner "Way Faster Than DSL" now this is B.S. this is false advertising what I'm getting from my service is dial up speed not DSL speed.

Went to their forum recently and there seems to be an infiltrator among the subscribers, he's always praising about Destiny this Destiny that if that's the case why is he trying to keep us the subscribers who complain regarding poor connection from speaking up airing our grievances? What is he trying to prove?

Right now Destiny's forum is being infiltrated by a certain subscriber who claims he's having a good connection that's good but sad to say in his point of view all he wants is good reviews from destiny but what about the other subscribers who's having a poor connection? Don't we have the right to talk also and air our point of view? Not only that he keeps on cutting in on some of our conversations I think this guy has a loose screw on his head.

What this guy is doing, this so called destiny subscriber who is all praise to his good internet connection is, he's trying to lure potential clients, and we all know that at present connection at destiny internet is really slow and unreliable most often you can't access some websites on the net, also you can't update your software i.e. anti-virus programs, he claimed that he's a subscriber for 5 years or so he says, and that's he's real motive try to convince people and potential clients that destiny cable internet is a reliable broadband provider which is not true at all. Isn't this a form of deception on his part? Another he might be an employee of Destiny internet maybe trying to boost the company's image or something and sales also. In my part let's be true regarding Destiny's real problem right now, they know there's a problem but still they're keeping quiet about the situation,

well, months have passed and just as we seem to have tolerated the issues of recurring internet connection problems with myDestiny, now they are at it again with some very irritating issues... Ms. Janet, hope you got my e-mail. Thanks again and more power!
